Remember the storm is very loose compared to the lighting so I would never use a soft axle for an 8 yr old but I would do is take the grip off the front to stop the rear sliding so loosen fixing points etc also if every time he turns in you notice the rear stepping out the dropping the front ride height works a treat on the storm
