Is the oil. Blowing out of the filler plug or diss appearing into the motor? If yes it is likely that the gear side crank seal is the culprit. If the oil is blowing out and emulsified together with a slow loss of radiator coolant your water pump seals are at fault.
As Jeff says they can clear quickly on circuit but from what you say the problem could be deeper.
BTW. There is no route from the gear casing into the pulse pipe for oil other than via the casing gasket next to the pulse take off point which would be very unlikely anyway.
