'Seat Bouncing' only works when you have the power to spin your wheels while standing still or moving relatively slowly.

Why?

Because the moment you 'land' back in your seat,. the rear tyres will re-grip and you'll be back down at the 'bass revs' again. Ok..... it MIGHT work if your motor is slightly flooded but the amount of time it will be revving highly will still be too short to make much difference to the flooding.

In the wet, it MIGHT help, especially in low power karts.

It used to work in 100 International (and THAT'S a few year ago....) and above, as they had more power than grip and you could force a 'sliding pull away' (spinning rear wheels). That allowed you to move into a power band that had maximum torque. A low powered engine can't overpower the grip of those rear wheel whatever you do (in the dry).

I'd suggest you check the state of the exhaust smoke as they pull away. If your lad is producing gouts of blue/black smoke (and other, quicker drivers aren't) then you should look at the state your engine is arriving at the grid.

Personally, I'd get him to 'clear' the engine just before he arrives at the grid (I'll explain how, if you ask) and/or teach him how to reduce the fuel entry before/at the start so that the engine is NOT flooded on pull-away.
