Finding a new 98mm rod may be difficult, you may have to use a 100mm and jack the barrel up 2mm. The other issue is the pin location on pistons varies, so you will need to work out which piston/rod combination will work for you. Try putting a request on the "market place" for a good second hand 98mm rod. Many of the old engine builders would replace rods after 1 hour, so as long as you don't over rev it it should be OK. Again with pistons when we ran in 100B we would change them every 20mins! The problem with these type of engines is that the cost of rebuilding them is more than they are worth.
