In my opinion, yes. Run down by 2000 RPM the old 100 National class motor would be quicker.

The other advantage of the 'old motors' over the TKM BT82 (which I think is a SUPERB motor..... for its class of racing) is that they are more substantially built. The BT82 was designed to take lesser strain and is thus.... less rigid as it never needed to take huge forces.

The BT82 is also a 'currently raced' motor and thus he will pay a premium over the older motors that are now mostly used for 'hobby' use and thus don't attract a premium.
