On the rare occasion I went testing I used a spare lid with a radio kit fitted (walkee-talkee with a hands free voice activated headset mounted in the foam lining) so my dad could tell me if I was going faster. Allowed me to try various different lines a session rather than doing one session to try one thing.

Can't imagine why you'd want one during races. My dad and I had simple hand signals to let me know if I was being caught or catching back markers and several if I was driving like a muppet, but other than that no other reason to need it!

And you're absolutely right, I wouldn't want some of the to$$er cadet dads being able to scream and shout at their kid on track, never mind making it horrible for the kid it'd be dangerous too
