Up at 10 pm on a Saturday fixing a kart makes you very normal for karting! Don't worry, shortly, the all-nighter will come.... we ALL have those during our 'career'.

You sound like someone with the right attitude to ENJOY karting. That may not mean your lad will be an F1 star but.... this time with your lad will be very precious and will help him develop, especially if it doesn't come easily to him.... trust me!

The other point is that 99.9% of the dads with the WRONG attitude (money, cheating and unpleasantness) will ALSO not get their lad in F1, either! Basically, there are THOUSANDS of lads karting and only 26 (24) F1 seats. As our Yank friends would say 'do the math!'.
