Thanks for the responses.

From what I can see, the hole in the atomiser bush is so big it has quite a tolerance for rotation against the carb body - the bush could be at quite an angle before any of the hole in the carb's body is blanked off. I'm talking about +/-5 (maybe 10) degrees here - haven't measured it with a protractor yet!

Are you saying that I should be aiming primarily for this hole to be perfectly aligned and the shroud angle is just a subsequent result of this process? It looks like this would have the shroud perfectly square with the slide on this particular carb.
