For running in, I tend to do 20 laps using a 10,000 rpm limit, then 20 laps at 12, 20 laps at 14. And consider it job done.

I don't richen the mixture for running in, and I use full throttle to run up to the maximum rpm, then let off completely and coast down to about 2000 below the max.

It's a miserable job, but it has to be done. The above might not be the optimum, but it's what I use and it definitely works without problems.
