The new engine is not a TAG but that is not a bad thing and I agree that IAME definately make good engines. But the new engine doesn't address the main bug bears with cadet 2 stroke racing, namely the complexity of getting the best out of the carb.

The temperature and performance of an air cooled 2 stroke will always fluctuate depending on conditions and fixing the jets just means the kids who can test more or get their carbs setup on a dyno the day before an event will be even more advantaged. Kids who can adjust their carbs on track will just have multiple sessions ruined whilst the teams who have had additional testing to the track conditions will just power a head.

With the new engine the real opportunity that has been lost is what people asked for - simplification and guaranteed performance equality.

Your analysis about weight is all based on supposition as we simply don't know to what extent the existing engines will be restricted. This is were there is a lot of potential for manipulation and hacking a lot of Dads and lads off.

Logic says they will restict in a way to ensure the new engine comes out on top. But what if they restrict the Comer in a way that favours the WTP! Now that would really be taking the pi** as never was there a more unevenly produced engine than that one!

All this uncertainty will simply drive people away or to the Honda engine.
