"if you had an engine that took 8 secs to reach 15000 and another that tool 20 seconds to reach 16000 I know which motor I would pick and it wouldn't be the higher revving one!"

Then you'd lose wouldn't you.........if the race was on, say, the Rockingham oval!

What about if the choice was between an engine that hit 15000 halfway down the Kim straight and then stopped accelerating; or an engine that although very slightly slower accelerating up to the halfway point, carried on accelerating until it hit 16000 at the end of the straight!
