We've been having problems with our starter motor since our last meeting (sometimes spinning up but never cranking the engine properly) so I stripped the starter last weekend and cleaned and checked all the internals. All looked fine so I rebuilt it and put the motor back on the kart but it's barely working at all now - not even spinning up let alone cranking the engine at times! Would this be a problem with any of the components in the starter motor?

What would be the most common causes of starter motor trouble with these engines?
