I'd say it would be better to buy a Fiched engine from an engine builder! The barrel has Alot to do with the engine performance as well as carb etc. A good engine builder can physically see when an engine is going to be good and when it's probably not! They can also set the squish to optimise the engine performance and perhaps run it on a dyno to validate that performance as well. Buying an engine straight out of the box is perhaps a bit of a lottery! You may end up with a barn stormer that may have been put to on side for someone special by an engine builder but you are also just as likely to end up with a shed that will barely turn over! People like adrain beddall, steve Ogden and George Robinson are all very knowledgeable and helpful and generally work on reputation so unlikely to sell you rubbish! Maybe call them up and ask what they have and if you can try it!?
