Are you changing complete engines ir just the base engine minus electrics ?
Don't think you should get a spark but do check your kill and starter switches as they can cause issues and do fail ! Do check your batteries are charged as the chargers do fail but say your battery is charged.I always checked the batteries with a digital voltmeter as well to be sure.
