When the Tryton carb was first introduced it was a disaster and it is still a very difficult carb to set right on a given day.

The original jets where subsequently changed to make adjustments less sensitive, but we still find 1 min or less either way can make a hugh difference to performance.

In truth the only way to set this carb anywhere near to it's optimum is on a Dyno.

This is a carb that plays into the hands of the professional teams that now dominate UK cadet karting. It is not a user friendly product in any sense.

From what I understand the Tryton carb was introduced in the UK because there were certain standard Tillotson carbs around that though technically legal gave a hugh advantage and the MSA wanted to fix this. These selected carbs where changing hands for £1000's supposedly.

So the introduction of the Tryton fixed this and on the whole I think there isn't a big difference from one carb to another (subject to getting the jetting right although I know many will not agree with this).

And yes it was quicker by about 1 sec per lap.
