Alan, the fact that you don't run anti-virus programs goes a long way to explaining why you have problems with Windows, the anti-virus program I have pointed you to has a low overhead and is very effective at protecting your operating system.

I have been using the same laptop to run Jet-Tech Pro and my Data logging program for the last 6 years without one single problem!

Just what are you doing wrong?

If you insist on running your Mac then just run Windows emulation and if the Mac is as good as you say then why should you continue to have problems?

I have never heard of any F1 team saying we are not bothering with any data logging or custom software this weekend as my laptop has stopped working - have you?

Given that your kart works every weekend is it just a lack of good preparation?
