Have you got the fin rubbers in place, they do quieten the 'ringing' fins.

You have a prpoer air box?

If you have the end cap then I wouldn't think stuffing wadding in there would last very long or be very effective.

Point the holes in the end can towards the ground, it may help a bit as well.
