All the costs are right Alex but maybe you would be better getting something older to practice on regularly 1st like a mk1 Max or TKM where you could buy the entire kit for under £1000 BUT the important thing is if its looked after will still be worth roughly the same when you come to sell it on. Unlike if you bought a 2010 kart and sold it in a year or twos time.
Dont forget all the other extras like helmet and you will need a way of transporting it such as trailer, estate car or van.
Once you have the equipment to go for full days testing is relatively cheap (under £50 usually) plus some fuel and will give you the maximum time in the seat plus mechanical knowledge.
