Most engine builders here in the UK use a diamond honing tool (bit like a reamer)rather than the three pronged stone type hone, but they are very expensive. If you cannot get hold of one those then I would have thought a fine grade stone on your honing tool would be ok. Just make sure the stones on the honing tool are not to small and legs are strong because when we did one of our unsealed practice motors with a brake cylinder hone it got caught in the ports and bent the hone and made a bit of a mess hope this helps!
