Alan.... that's plain BONKERS!
If you allow in 'exotic' materials, the cost will go THROUGH THE ROOF and only 'works drivers' will be able to afford the damned things!
Christ, Carbon Fibre is NOT the ideal material but I can easily see SOME exotic material being used of wildly thin 'walls, giving the same stiffness but MUCH lower weight. What do you suggest we do it if turns out that titanium or other BIZARRE metals turn out to start winning races? Can YOU afford a chassis made of titanium or something even MORE expensive.....? I don't know many who CAN afford it! If Titanium became 'the' metal, the cost of WELDING it would put the price beyond most of us!
We are not, repeat N*O*T, Formula1 1! Our racing does NOT depend on being more and more exotic every year! We depend on AFFORDABILITY.... and THAT's the key to karting!
Rising costs would KILL us!
It's NOT a new rule.... as Dave said.... the rule has been with us for YEARS!
