The starter button is an inferior part and as you have found, there are much better units at a cheaper price on the market.

This is part of the crap we have to put up with in this commercial class but if you were to have your new starter wired in parallel with the crap one and not modify the loom (It can be done using male spade connectors) then they couldn't argue, as the loom and switch remain unchanged.

A better way is to wire in a high amp relay and then the switch just has to pass a low curent to pull the solenoid of the relay in.

John, the D1.8.5 Non-Technical Items. The use of alternative fasteners, washers, hose clips, fuel and pulse line is allowed unless otherwise specified. The use of additional and alternative earth straps is allowed. Is a real bonus if you know how to use the regulation!!!
