you need a tyre band. If you have a strap from an old bag this may work. Alternatively I have seen an old buckle seat belt used. They do go though. You can also try digging your knee into the tyre as it inflates and take the valve core out too. Make sure the rim is soaped up too with tyre soap. Always helps.
