Trying to get drivers to participate in one club is from what I hear near impossible. Trying to get to get 34 clubs with drivers participating in them... well I think there is more chance of me winning the jackpot on the lottery three times in a row : S
But just because the drivers don't participate in the clubs doesn't mean they don't want a say as to what happens in the sport. All the drivers want to do is race and if there is talk about a new class or a new engine then they want to be asked about it.
At present the tier structure is:
MSA ABKC 34 Member clubs Drivers Rep Drivers
The Union could be:
MSA Union Drivers
See how much simpler that is?
I know it might look like I'm criticising the efforts of the clubs, let me make it clear that I am not, I know the clubs work extremely hard but that is not the issue. The issue is that drivers don't like some of the changes being made in the sport and they don't feel it's easy to have a view on where the sport is going and they certainly don't want to be bringing up the issues at club meetings. The drivers union could be the answer for the drivers.
Chris.
