Section U, Specific Regulations for Karting, Page 363 (17/23) states:-
18.8.5. A guard covering the transmission chain (or
belt), engine sprockets and rear axle sprockets/gears is
compulsory.
18.8.6. Effective protection must be provided over the
top and both sides of the exposed chain and sprockets,
and extend to at least the lower plane of the rear axle.
