I've found starting is made easier after the engine has been stood for a while if the carb is well full of fuel.

To do this take out the plug and turn the engine over while holding a hand over the air intake trumpets. You should see the fuel being pumped into the carb through the plastic fuel pipe.

Works every time for us.
