Nuhh, I wife works better when damp :)

I've had two Mychron 4's for 3 years. They have both given problems if they are left cold and or damp for any period of time. But otherwise no problems that deleting all the data and disconnecting the battery hasn't solved. It's a must to bring them inside after a wet race or during the winter.

As for needing one, best thing you can invest in from a training point of view. Even with the basic unit you can look at lap times and splits to analyse where a newbie is consistent or not.

It is also very motivational for them, I look back as perhaps the best ever time with my lad, the first 3 weeks in a kart during the school holidays when we trained every other day, watching the lap time’s tumble every time out and then stabilise for a while. Then at a certain point something clicked and he found 4 seconds in a session to put him on race pace, best feeling ever and without the Micron we wouldn't have really seen the progression so clearly.

Also the parent can learn about tyre pressures and gearing as the pace and consistancy comes.
