Depends on the class of kart. Using a TKM with non-synthetic oil, we found that paper ones COULD block SOLID within 1 heat!

You can avoid using them in all classes..... IF....:-

1) You check that youyr fuel cans are CLEAN
2) You filer the fuel going IN to the fuel can.
3) You check that your fuel tank is SPOTLESS (and I do mean SPOTLESS).
4) You filer the fuel FROM your can into the tank!
5) Whe you use your funnel, make CERTAIN its SPOTLESS and kept in a clean. container betwen uses!

The filters can be bought from most kart shops and look like paper 'cones' which fit into your SPOTLESS fuel funnel. The are cheap and effective.

The advantages of doing that is that you dopn't have to worry about filters blocking, leaking, breaking, acting as airlocks, etc., IN your kart. As a matter of principle, REDUCE the components on your kart (e.g., no filter), the less you have on the kart, the less will FAIL when you need them!
