I can see your argument Ian, but don't know how you interpreted what I said "amplifies the effort from your foot" to mean "would increase the pressure felt BY your foot". However we had these brakes on our Tony Viper and my son hates sharp brakes, the harder to lock the better for him so he really disliked the Viper brakes. We tried various things, raising the cable helped, less travel yes, but more effort required to lock the brakes, footrest helped and cutting the linings off a set of Tony pads and fitting our own material did the job.
