I can bet that most who have commented on the seals have never run a tag engine. My advice would be to change them more often than not. I have seen far too many tags seize due to the oil seals leaking.

The simple test is to fill the crankcases up with mixed fuel and look for excessive leaking. Keep up the maintenance and you may never have a failure then. Leave it and you never know whats around the corner.
