Someone mentioned a while back that they change the main bearing oil seals on their TKM every meeting, as it's quick, easy and cheap to do. Is this fairly common?

Given the advice, I'm just changing mine. It's not that quick or easy, as they're a bit of a pain to remove (clutch off, PVL off, and then a ba$tard to prise out with crank in situ), and I can't see any evidence that they've been leaking at all. Have I been lead up the garden path, as it were? If I haven't, what's a quick way of popping them out of the crankcase without splitting it?
