Look at what people are telling you about these rims and ask "how do they know"? They maintain temperatures better but come up to temperature quicker? Does that sound right? How many karters have you seen with a tyre temp probe? How many have you seen measuring tyre temps at various points in a long distance run? How many measure temps real time? How many take tyre pressures as soon as the kart stops?
Then look at the physics. We know the volume cannot make a difference to the temperature of the tyre by looking at the gas laws. We also know that one set of ali rims handles differently to another set by trial and error so, when testing mag rims, how do you isolate the construction/stiffness change from the material change?
By all means try some mag rims, but treat those that claim to know what they do in the same way you treat those that claim we're locking wheels at 50Hz.
