Do you have ANY evidence to suggest that a 'momentarily' locked tyre DOES 'grip worse' than a 'slowed one.....'? Remember, I am talking about it remaining locked for around a 1/10th of a second!

I am NOT aware of that test being done..... perhaps you are!

I AM aware that 'LOCKED and REMAINING LOCKED' tyres DO fair worse...... but we are NOT talking about that situation.... are we?

In my experinece of watching the REALLY good drivers they slow the wheel CONSIDERABLY more than 10% to 20% of the 'rolling speed'.

I did suggest that you should NOT trust MY views.... I suggested that you go and WATCH good drivers doing it! As a recommendation..... go to the end of Kimbolton main straight and WATCH and LISTEN to great drivers......

What you will note is that the QUICK guys are 'semi-locking'... you don't NEED a datalogger..... you'll SEE it.... and you'll HEAR it!

Now go and check the place where 'ordinary' drivers start to brake and then where the good guys start the 'semi lock'......

The remember how much FASTER the quyick guys are ARRIVING at the braking point.

You don't NEED a datalogger, you'll SEE the different braking distances and you'll SEE the wheels damned near VIBRATING!

And I am pretty comfortable that you'll see ANY number of 'dead-stopped-moments' up to about FIFTY on THAT corner!

Having raced at that staright since the late 1960s..... I do ACTUALLY know what I suggesting, here!

When you have had more practice and when you KNOW your brakes.... you'll be aiming for it...... its actually easier than it sounds..... and STAGGERINGLY effective! It also allows the driver to set the chassis up with MUCH more 'turn in understeer' than usual.....

I also suspect that you won't see it on ANY karting datalogger as they do NOT display actions in 1/10th of a second 'chunks'!

Still..... I am NOT paid for this advice and it is TOTALLY up to you if you choose to reject it..... it really is NO skin off MY nose! Don't expect to beat the QUICK boys, though!

There are MANY things that karters know MORE about than car-racers! Not many of those who START in 'race-cars' go on to enter F1.... whereas as (I believe) 100% of those in F1 now have LONG kart histories. That's NOT a coincidence!
