with time the casting becomes porous (or more porous)

the more sharply the pressure drop in the pop off check the less porous the casting is and so the carb is more efficient

you can get probs with the needle "centri-fuging" out on some corners and sticking to the side. i was never able to fully iron this out from occuring.
