The whole problem is the obsession with everyone making the weight in the class. What has become lost in this is that total weight, is only one facture in performance.

Once you factor in the differences between static weight on the kart and drivers weight, then the need for a new class is lost.

Thus a large driver who is 10kg over weight can still be as fast as one who is carrying 10kg of lead, even one who is spot on.

Assuming a weight of 100kg, it is much easier and faster for a 45kg child to brake, turn in, slide, flick through traffic etc. a 65 kg kart. Than it is for a 25kg child to do the same with a 75kg kart. Thus what the overweight child loses in accelaration they gain in the handling and braking.

More and more younger and smaller kids are crippled by larger and larger amounts of lead, do we bring in more lighter classes for them as well.

IMO, More classes is not the answer, the only real solution, if one is needed, is to use a system of weights coupled with restictors. Perhaps this would be a better use for multiple engines?
