Thanks DDD, that's helpful.

1. Yes, the PV has the spring in it, it's been rebuilt a couple of times and appears to be functioning correctly.

2. Though rebuilt, you may be right in that it's opening too early, just using a single powerband all the way through the rev range. I'll try fiddling with it on track.

3. This also could be the problem, the joint is not airtight, I'll try sealing it. Where can I find the right type of sealant?
