Many thanks for the reply, I picked up 12v off the starter socket and chassis so looks like the start motor is suspect. The wire was NOT tied to the motor body so could it just be a case of bad connection now? The rub (plug?) that goes into the start motor doesn't appear to easily come off so is it fixed and I need to remove the starter motor? Thanks again.
