You are starting to see the point I'm trying to make to you. There is a HUGE amount of time to be made up in your driving AND the set-up of your EXISTING kart..... changing and testing the settings of the CURRENT equipment is complex ENOUGH without adding a second motor and different spec carbs at THIS stage.
It's HUGELY tempting to think that you can simply BUY speed or that, conversely, if you DON'T spend the money, you CANNOT be quick.... it really is not so simple.
Effectively, so long as you have not bought TOTAL rubbish, then you will be able to get yourself WELL towards the front of the field (e.g., top 12 in your class/club) WITHOUT buying 'high price ticket' items.
Oddly enough, MOST karters fail to make use of the kit they have as they INSIST in concentrating on the WRONG things.
You need to learn to use what you HAVE before you buy more.... hence my comments about Mag Wheels, New Carbs and all the REST of the regularly HYPED items!
In my opinion, you'd also do well ONLY to consider buying things that WILL make you faster.... sticker kits, new paintwork on the kart and DEFINITELY, helmet paint jobs will not improve your times by a MILLIONTH of a second. Only start spending money of FASHION items when you CANNOT spend your money on soemthing that makes you QUICKER because you already HAVE every performance aid!
The twist is that LEARNING how to use what you have will give you the skills to evaluate ALL the potential new purchases that you make.
Try to get hold of at least one book that explains the process of TESTING and how you measure what you have 'changed'. Half of the skill is learning how to make notes about the changes and the effects and keeping and USING the infortmation that you have gained.
Secondly, at your CURRENT stage, the single LARGEST improvements will be in YOUR DRIVING!!!
To start with, most people are at LEAST 10 seconds off the pace, after a few days practice, you'll get within 5 seconds and then after let's guess 10 races, you'll be within 3 seconds of the WINNING lap times. At that point, it's worth thinking about WHAT you might buy to IMPROVE your lap times. Obviously, tyres are a 'consumable', like petrol, oil and bacon sarnies so they do NOT count in the 'no-buy' regime. Learning to DRIVE will take 7 seconds of your lap times and there is only 3 seconds REMAINING that 'a purchase' can give you...... and... in reality, within that last 3 seconds 1.5 seconds STILL remains within your driving.....!
So... until you are within (let's guess) 3 seconds of race winning lap times... you don't NEED to spend that much!
