Just for the record not all of the bar coded tyres perform badly, however it is true that the are more inconsistant than the older ones but if you look back this inconsistany was apparent over a year ago before the bar code lables were introduced. Indeed I have experienced the best part of a second in lap time change with some sets for well over 12 months. The bar code actually indicates the number of that individual tyre normally a 7 digit number, not the batch but it is fair to assume that in 99.9% of cases close or consecutive numbers will be of the same batch. On this basis inspection of certain tyres from S1 revealed a huge change in the numbers rage in the order of 70,000 issued at the same event. One of the number ranges tested around 6 tenths faster than the other which begs the question if I can deduce this why can't everyone get similar tyres in terms of number range? or does it just suit a few that are 'lucky' and get the better ones. Anyway not to worry it will be Mojo's next year so we can look forwaed to learning about those in the hope that we get a more consistant product, but I for one will not be holding my breath.
