A long armed car hub/bearing puller can be made to work.

The last time I saw someone hammering away at a sprocket carrier, it was on a Storm.

They said they always had to do it!

I presume the build quality is not as good as the likes of Tony etc, so you get what you pay for.

Penetrating oil, NOT WD40, should get deep enough to give you a start on the problem which is probably corrosion.

If the carrier is that tight, I would be inclined to ease it a fraction so that the pinch bolt can still do it's job but it will at least slide off.
