very patchy weather on both saturday and sunday mate

great day on saturday, pretty much the quickest in both wet and dry, much to my surprise

finished the first heat 2nd,went off on the first corner in the 2nd heat and DNF'd,won the third heat.started the final on the front row

and thats where the good weekend ended...or maybe thats where the good luck started,im not sure yet!
:)

the rod connecting my breaks broke on the 2nd lap of the final and i was using the safety cable to break for the rest of the race(i didnt know that until 3/4 of the way through.

dont know if you have ever tried it but you have to press the peddle really hard to get a faint break which got worse as the race progressed cos the cable was stretching.i came in 3 laps from the end once i saw what the issue was as i had a few scary moments.only reason i was carrying on was that i was still in 3rd and holding on to the front 2(matched the winners time in the end)but it got too dangerous

anyway, when i came in to retire i was discussing in the pits with my brother why the kart was suddenly driving like a pig and as we were going over it we noticed that the king pin bolt on the stub axle had sheered and only half of it was holding the stub...basically it was flapping about and a bloody good job i came in when i did.

we found the head of the king pin in our pit bay,we had changed ride height just before going out so it must have happened then.

i cant decide wether im cursed(this sort of thing tends to happen whenever im doing well)or bloody lucky to have got away with two freak occurances going wrong in one race!
:)
