Thanks for the reply Dale, and for the link to very useful measurements!

Since posting originally I've had a chat with Steve Tillett, who reckons a soft T8 would be a good starting point. But I'm now worrying about whether I'll be able to get it sitting low enough on the front stays. It's all becoming as clear as mud!
