I have been there few months ago, I spent lots of time learning and buying stuff to learn, what helped me the most:

1. The 'Rotax how to guide' DVD. Here is the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1tsqbWXTkk&feature=player_embedded#
you can buy the DVD there: http://www.wrench2win.com/

2. Jet tech pro for carb set up. There are lots of videos on youtube and articles around on this website that really help.

3. As John said the rotax manual and operator manual

4. Set of the Tony Kart: this website http://j3competition.com/. I used for learning how to install a seat properly on my EVR but there are lots of good other tips on the Kosmic (same as Tony)

5. Blaque Choquer just released a new DVD on the chassis set up and use the Tony Kart as example on many occasions: http://www.kartingmagazine.com/shop/Product.asp?PID=1159&GID=5
