Why would the chassis flex between the bearing hanger and the existing seat mount/stay? I'm not saying it doesn't, but why would that be the case? It's almost certainly the only case in which a seat stay could affect stiffness and is easily (dis)proven by those with data logging. Simply attach a linear potentiometer between the seat and the bearing in the same way you would mount a stay, gather some data, then mount the stay in parallel with the pot, gather some more data and compare. If they do anything you'll see not only a change in laptime, but also a change in motion of the pot.
