You could be right, John, but yes - I believe I can explain how it profits BRP to undertake and manufacture design improvements - Assuming that BRP continue to sell baffles and wadding at the same rate, then the new exhaust will improve their turnover as they will sell the new exhausts to all those (teams initially)around the world who can afford to test them against the old, and to all those who then believe the hype that is bound to spring up when somebody goes quick with the new exhaust, and the rich kids that must have the latest. Any team that goes over to them will also have to replace all of their exhausts. Then in 2011 or whenever, they will make them mandatory for Rotax championship racing, and then national championships like S1 will follow them. For BRP, thats an income stream they just did not have before. In the past, few people bought a replacement exhaust unless it was thoroughly squashed.
