i think what you need to be looking(being a novice who likes to tinker) at is your basic maintainace to be carried out on the engine and anscilliaries before every meeting

other more experienced rotax drivers will be able to add totbhis list but ill start it off

a cleaned out carb
the power valve clean and free
battery completely topped up and a spare
air box and filter clean
gear oil topped up
fuel pump(personally i never touched it but i know it important)
clean engine with paintbrush and fuel

there are lads of things.i have a little check list for myself on the tkm to have done before every race weekend.over to the people who know the rotax
