Just another option to throw a spanner in the works.
If thinking of a rebuild, why not ask the rebuilder to price up an 09 barrel during the rebuild. If Grice are doing rebuilds for about Ł300 surely your Ł600 budget would cover the barrel too?
I'm sure you can see from the interest, you've already said the engine is slower than your last, but still people are pushing past each other to get it at a low price. Max engines seem to sell quite well on ebay if you went down that avenue.
