thank you for your reply,
yes I have considered the "do nothing option" and yes I agree when weighing up all the options this is probably the best thing to do financially
but there are also other considerations,
1) this engine isn't as good as my last one and a rebuild may make it better
2) The later engine now has a cnc machined barrel which is supposed to be better
3) a blown engine on a race weekend will ruin it, knowing it will be repaired for free does give some comfort
