Surely it depends on what one means by "contact"- are we worried about someone even engaging in a normal friendly conversation with our little darlings?- should we bring our children up being scared of everyone on the off chance they are potential child molesters and not just someone who has a common sporting interest- that's not political correctness......... that's paranoia.
Surely in all dealings on the kart circuit with an official you as the parent would be present -so what opportunity is there for any inappropriate behaviour ?? Sorry but I think we are in danger of being unable to take a common sense view on the perceived risks when the biggest risk might be that karting becomes adult only participation sport as it is too risky for children . Life is risky ........that is why we allow our offspring as young as 6 to drive around a circuit as fast as possible- seems to be some irony here when it comes to us as parents in deciding what is an aceptable risk.
