I've said it before, but I don't think that there is such a thing as a 'best' class, because best is very personal.

The actual class of kart is almost immaterial, they all require the same high degree of skill to drive well, the speed differential is small in that they all arrive at the braking point within a couple of MPH of each other and teh difference in laptimes is more down to things like tires than anything else. They all have different characteristics too. A TKM will (or did) slide much more than a Blue or Rotax which is its own fun in itself. Blues are far less sensitive to variations of weight, because of the restrictor system and it isn't unusual to have drivers from both heavy and light bands on the same podium. Rotax stick to the surface much better than either but need nursing round corners so you don't loose too many revs (hence the fuss about greased or slipping clutches)

So, it's the grid, the quality and friendliness of the drivers, not necessarily sheer numbers. If you race under timed qualifying, the size of the grid is immaterial and if you don't, after the first few 'traffic' laps you are probably regularly racing only a few drivers anyway. Much better to enjoy a race than to always be coming into parc ferme having been punted.
