Check you have connected the pulse pipe also. The blue pulse pipe goes on the top cast barb on the carb and the fuel line on the brass barb on the side. We never run a new carb straight away though, always rebuild it as its been sat around dry for a long time. You could risk damaging your engine. Make sure all your earth straps are tight also.
